Social Justice Team
The Social Justice Team’s purpose is to integrate needs with action. Our mission is to bring vital social justice issues to the congregation and our community, acting as witness and speaking truth to power as issues come up.
The Team provides leadership in identifying social justice initiatives, generally relating to racism/anti-racism, immigration/refugees or asylum seekers, ecological concerns and a long-term commitment to establish Medicaid expansion in Kansas. It makes recommendations on initiatives and actions to the leadership of the UUCL including the Executive Board and other teams, coordinating with our Minister. It also maintains active contacts with the local community leaders and administers the congregation’s “Community Connection.”
Get Involved
All members and friends are welcome! Snacks are encouraged if meeting at UUCL in Founder’s Hall and at other times we meet via Zoom. Meetings are monthly and regular emails are sent out. Contact Barb Johnston to learn more.
